Technology in 50 years

There have been so many changes in technology in my lifetime, that I am afraid to speculate on the future. In the library, we used the dewey decimal system when I was in school. I know that most of the younger generation don't have a clue what microfiche is. But that was the extent of the technological advances twenty five years ago. Now the internet is the spot for archives and all new information. It is hard to guess about the future. It seems that computers have been given the ability to think. I believe that eventually teachers will be obsolete. I think they will build robots and/or computers who will give students all of the instruction they need. Just like machines have replaced many auto workers, I think that many workers at many businesses will no longer be needed. Not matter how unlike it is, I always think of Irobot for the future. I just hope it's not true.

  1. I think you are right. There will probably be no need for teachers in fifty years or even a reason for us to really know too much.

  2. Interesting blog post - thanks for sharing. I know it seems like machines and robots are taking over, but one thing I've kept in mind is that as manual labor jobs were replaced, more information and computer management jobs were also created. It seems like the more advanced computers become, the more jobs that are needed to help manage and implement them!
